Avenue C was founded by three professionals with significant experience in corporate environmental analysis and strategic management.
Deanna Matthews, President, has industry and academic experience relevant to environmental management and systems assessment. Her career started in 1995 at IBM’s Engineering Center for Environmentally Conscious Products where she worked on leading techniques for environmental assessment of products and declarations. She worked for Concurrent Technologies Corporation on environmental assessment of military facilities. Deanna has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Duke University, and M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
Scott Matthews has worked on various industry consulting assignments on environmental management issues for 15 years. His primary expertise is in Life Cycle Assessment, the foundation of today’s carbon footprinting standards. Since 2009 he has been a member of the Steering Committee for the development of the World Resource Institute’s Product GHG Standard as well as the Scope 3 Corporate GHG Standard. Scott earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Carnegie Mellon University and is an Associate Professor at CMU in the Departments of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Engineering & Public Policy.
John Lipinski has 10 years of managerial experience in various positions with Procter & Gamble and Warner Lambert. With Warner Lambert, he was Manager of New Product Development. With Procter & Gamble, he managed the Super K-Mart account. John also has start-up experience working closely with Ebuyxpress.com and CMC Matrix, a medical technology company. Prior to joining Avenue C, John was a Professor at Robert Morris University in the Department of Management. John holds a Ph.D. in Corporate Strategy from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.B.A. degree from the University of Michigan.
